What to Expect

What will happen on the day of the flight.

What To Expect

Before leaving for the airfield we strongly suggest you give us a call to check the current weather conditions, so that we are able to assess whether the flight will be able to take place. Once we've given you the go ahead, you should aim to arrive with us about 10 minutes before your booking time (Allow sufficient time for traffic).

On arrival we will ask you to fill out a couple of forms and introduce you to the airfield and your flying instructor - at which point you can decide together on the route and destination for your flight. Following this, you will receive a safety briefing and an introduction to the aircraft that you will be flying, running you through the main controls, on-board systems and emergency procedures.

After your briefing you will be taken out to the aircraft for a pre-flight inspection, where your instructor will detail you through the pre-flight checks. Family and friends are welcome to join you to snap those all-important photos!

Your instructor will ensure that you are strapped in securely and once the engine is up and running your instructor will carry out the take-off - and then the flight is yours! Under guidance of the instructor you will be offered to take controls, for as much of the flight as you feel comfortable.

While you are flying, family and friends are more than welcome to stay in the clubhouse, visit our outdoor viewing area or have something to eat/drink in the Aviator Bar & Restaurant.

On return to the airfield your instructor will once again take over and carry out the approach and landing. On touchdown you will be presented with a ‘first flight’ certificate, and may, if you've already decided flying is definitely for you, record your first official hour in your pilot’s logbook. After your flight, please feel free to enjoy everything else the airfield has to offer. Enjoy some lunch in our fantastic cafe/restaurant and watch all manner of aerial activities including parachuting, aerobatics and helicopter flights. Relax and unwind and enjoy your first flight - we hope, the first of many!

FAQ's

×

How do I pay for a flight?

Air Experience flights can be purchased over phone, via email or on the day of the flight. If pre-payment is taken (over the phone or by email) then we will have a voucher sent out to you, which is valid for a period of 6 months.
×

How does booking work?

Simply give us a call on 01404 891643 with your voucher number at hand and we can organise a suitable booking for you. We strongly suggest booking in advance (ideally a week during busy periods) to avoid disappointment on the day. It’s always worth calling on a fine sunny day should you find yourself free.
×

What if the weather is bad on the day?

Weather, as I am sure you are aware, is the most critical factor in whether the flight will go ahead. Conditions can often be very changeable so we advise giving us a call before you plan on leaving (especially if you are coming from a distance or the forecast is marginal). If we are unable to fly on the date of your booking, then it is simply a case of rebooking to another day of your choice. Do bear in mind the expiry date of your voucher and the possibility of weather cancellations when you choose a date to fly.
×

When can I fly?

Our Airfield is open all year round - closing for a brief period during the Christmas holiday. We operate during the summer from 9:00am to 6:00pm British Summer Time, and 9:00am to 5:00pm during the winter.
×

Can I take passengers with me?

Off Course! Any partners, family or friends are more than welcome to fly with you and enjoy the experience. However, this is subject to a booking being made in the four seater aircraft.
×

Where can I fly?

You can choose where you want to fly during your time slot! Should you fancy a scenic flight across the Jurassic coast, or perhaps a flight over your home then we can easily have this arranged. On the odd occasion, there can be restrictions as to where pilots can fly (which can change on a daily basis) - although this generally won't affect the destination you chose. If you are unsure, feel free to give us a call before you book.
×

Are cameras/phones allowed on-board?

Certainly- you wouldn't want to miss out on capturing those stunning views! Just ensure that any electrical items are set to 'flight safe mode' before commencing the flight.
×

I have decided I want to learn to fly - does the air experience flight count?

Yes - The flight you have with us will be undertaken by a fully qualified flight instructor at a licensed flight training organisation. So the time you have in the air can be your very first entry in your pilots’ logbook.
